Dan,

I like the goal you're setting yourself ... think big and really believe it ... it's the only way to get results! I myself do the same although I didn't publish my big dreams on the web yet. Maybe that's a sign I don't have enough belief ;-).

Keep up the good work, I'll be cheering for you the whole 8000h which are left.

greetz,

Statman,

Thanks for the comments! First off, I'd love to meet you, love to come to the Oregon/Stanford game and love to play some golf with you and your son. Let's talk more between now and then, but a break in mid-November to Northern Cal sounds perfect.

I do keep all of those numbers and have been compiling some of them over the past couple of months. One question, though: do you plug them all into a spreadsheet? whay format do you keep them in? I've created some excel docs with numbers and have had decent success creating graphs/etc, but would be interested in any advice on better ways to analyze the data. Shoot me an email via the contact page if you could, I would like to chat more.

Thanks!

I will look this up. I am not familiar with the Pareto principle, but like the approach :)

Mikal,

I think that people do have a tendency to see themselves as a certain "level" of whatever they do and having a handicap can become a limiting factor in someone's growth. However, I think that I'm not the type of person to get caught up in mentally typing myself as a specific level of golfer. The entire project is based on improving and becoming the person you want to become with hard work. We all are starting somewhere and heading somewhere new, the handicap is just a track record of where I have come from. By the time it's posted I already feel that I am a better golfer than whatever the number says and I wouldn't limit myself by a number. I see it as a base level showing my where I need to go over the next 7,xxx hours.

Your comment rings true in golf and in life, it seems easy to pigeon-hole oneself into having a specific level of abilities. Breaking this pattern is crucial for growth and learning.

Cheers,
Dan
