Hey Dan,

I haven't checked in with you for awhile. Sorry to hear the back is acting up, but glad to hear you are taking some time off to let it heal. You are in this for the long run, so a week or two off now and then is a good investment. Remember, pain is the body's signal something's wrong, so don't ignore it!

PS: I read a while back where Sergio plays nine holes every so often left-handed to make sure his body stays in alignment. Maybe you need to take a few swings right-handed every now and then and see if that makes a difference.

buy my snowboards, they will fix your back.

hahaha, kidding.

1) I've been working on taking smaller divots, I've really come down hard on the ball and it's hurting my hands and wrists bad.

2) I've been dealing with lower back pain for 10 yrs. I've had ups and downs, 2 or 3 bulging discs confirmed. This round I'm trying a chiropractor for a while, xrays show that a lot of my issues stem from my hips. Whatever the case, giving it a shot, and trying to swing free-er and easier. So far my irons have straightened out a pinch from it :).

hope yours is just minor and temporary setback. It cant hurt to figure out your "safety game" now, though, just in case this rears its ugly head again, mid tournament. Sometimes taking a step back kicks things up a notch :).

Unfortunately injury if minor or major are part of the game and life. Look at some of the great players who have fought injury a good example is Tiger Woods who has not been the same after wrecking his leg playing hurt in US Open and then all kinds of issues with back and he played great at Masters this year only to hit a root on last round, said he had to pop his hand back into place? I have had a couple root injuries so beware. The golf swing especially when swinging over 100 mph has some wear and tear on the body, and with uphill, downhill, sidehill angles often leads to back strains, or minor or major injury. I recently had to take some time off for injury with feet, and also dental but back on the horse again and played well last well. Don't be discouraged as temporary setbacks are just a fact of life. When we fall off the horse we just dust ourselves off and get back up and ride on. At Astoria CC we have a golfer who recently won the club championship with a broken leg, shot even par the last day, and also had his 12th Ace this year. Mike Graham is a legend and having the strength to win with a broken leg was inspiring. Unreal.

Hope you feel better soon. A back injury is nothing to mess with -- even if the doctor says you're benched for a few months, you should do it. What you'll forget in that time is much less than what you'd lose from a permanent major injury. Get a second and third opinion too, just to be sure. (Even when you trust your doctor, 3 doctors are together smarter than one.) Just be sure to take it seriously, whatever that means to you.

Good luck.
