Injury does suck at any time, for dedicated golfers it is at the high end of frustration. Important to identify the problem and especially the cause. This may seem a minor detail but if you can't play it is a productive way to spend the enforced layoff time. As a golfer with permanent injuries my game is good yet is adjusted to prevent aggravation of the tender spots without diminishing competition effectiveness.

Thanks for your post Dan. It is good to hear that you are being seen by an MD and a doctor of Physical Therapy. The thing that I get most from what you are saying is that you are overly eager to get back to hitting golf balls. You should not be in a rush and if you have plans to play in a week you should be ready to cancel them. Your condition is not something that you have previously experienced or know how to treat or how long it will be before you get better. The important thing is to get proper care and do what is necessary to get better, and if that takes 8 weeks or six months, golf will still be there when you are ready. Best of luck with this situation!

Dan,

I hope you are feeling better and back on the course soon. I have been following your blog for a little while now and thought you might be interested in a blog I just started.

I have been using Game Golf (I saw your recent review) for a few months now to track my stats. I use it to calculate strokes gained, similar to how Mark Broadie describes in his book. I have some really detailed analysis on my golf game, broken down to a fantastic level that really lets me determine where I need to work. For instance, I just recently did a post discussing why I play worse in tournaments. Using Strokes Gained I am able to easily pinpoint the part of my game that struggles under nerves.

You can read more at the post here: http://bit.ly/1d4Y4l1

This is just a small snapshot of what I have been able to do using the Game Golf to analyze my game. I'm sure you could do the same with ARCCOS. I'll be posting more details as I get used to blogging, but in the meantime please let me know if you are interested in seeing the data I have. I think if you did something similar it could really help you to improve faster. It allows you to quantify specific parts of your game in a way that simple tracking (Fairways, Greens, Putts, etc) falls short. It'll also help you add some pretty plots to your story that help you to track progress.

Don't get discouraged. Its a brutal game.

Regards,
Dallas

"Perhaps my glutes were just not firing. Wait, no, that’s not me, that was Tiger."

You know this was an unnecessary jab at Tiger. I'm not a Tiger "fanboi" but I'm a definite huge fan. He is a great athlete that no doubt is in tune with his body and can probably tell when a certain part isn't working the way it is supposed to be.

I understand it was most likely made in jest. But falls a bit short coming from someone who could only hope to achieve even a tenth of what he has done in the game of golf, but yet you feel it's necessary to take a jab at him like this.

Stick to what you know.

Hey Dan

Sorry to hear about the aching body. Are you still engaged in a fitness program?

Also, don't you think you need to bulk up a bit to tackle the PGA Tour? Rory works out tonnes, and there have been several big-time fitness transformations from other PGA stars to keep up with the modern game (and reduce injuries).

Lee Westwood... Camillo Villegas.... even Phil Mickelson has recently bulked up! How is the exercise routine working?
