Ha ha - well done coach! Getting the basics down with good technique is extremely valuable in any sport and will pay off in the long run. It's much harder to break bad habits than to adapt good ones to new situations. I believe the way Dan started has been working really well and I've been enjoying keeping up with his progress.

William,

haha, I'm with you. In my mind I never think of myself as an "infant golfer" but rather someone who has dedicated every day over the past 19 months to the game. I've made some good ground work, but think that there were a few things I could have added along the way to have boosted my current level. That said, again, you can only look forward and push on and that's what I'm doing. I am where I am and am only going to get better as I learn about the game and myself.

Thanks as always,

Dan

I'm not sure I understand down-playing the amount of time Dan has been playing. Saying he is only a '18 month old' golfer is a bit misleading when you consider that he's played/practiced more in that 18 months then most play in their entire lifetime.

So when Dan is supposed to be 50% of the way to tour pro there won't be high expectations because he'll only be a 3 year old golfer? What about when he's a '6 year old golfer' and this is all nearing an end?

Dan's expectations for Bandon were much too high, and he should not get discouraged. These courses are wicked and will require several 1000 hours of Dan's focused learning to master -- wind, elevation, air temp, rain/hail/sun -- all changing every 15 min?! Those three lads from N. Ireland who've won majors recently didn't learn their basics in Portland. Stick with The Plan -- it's working!!

A great response and a fantastic job coaching. You were strong without being harsh and still working hard to teach. I learned a lot from this.
