funny reading this blog. I hope your success comes soon as I am doing the same thing you are. I started seriously practicing after a guy I played golf with occasionally passed away. at the time of his death I was shooting 125 to 130 and he was too. I told him in his casket that I was going to make them pay. and we were the laughing stock of our little golf crew that was 2007. its now 2012 and I estimate 6000 hrs of practice I am a 2 handicap closing in on scratch and they have all went into hiding. so with anything especially golf...the club has to become an extension of your body. I used a frisbee practice technique that was epic in working the ball left and right. all of that aside...I am proof that practice makes perfect...wanna play?

"10,000 people putting in 10,000 hours". Good idea, but what would you then do with 10,000 more tour pros? :-)

HI Dan,
I just found your webiste today via a friend, who would love to do what you are doing. He is kind of doing it. I did the same thing for 18 months and had a blast. I have watched some videos and read some of your stuff.
My 2 cents. All that time, all those balls, all that focus on numbers is great, however, there is one thing I get immediately. You are taking the bull by its horns and that is awesome.
Golf, however, is like a beautiful woman. Sometimes you need to let go, relax and just let it happen; no counting, no stats, no matter if you take a day off or if you putt righty one day. One of the best books I have ever ready in golf is Zen Golf. I think you would really enjoy that if you get a chance to read it. Sometimes to improve or make a leap, the best thing is to take 10 days off without even looking at your clubs:0). Try that one. ciao, J

Hi Charlie,

Good as always to hear from you. I'll leave this for the psychologists to debate. Who knows where Larry would have been if sprinting was his forte. He chose basketball and ended up where he did. We could speculate in any way.

I think one important aspect, though, is that I'm not attempting to be the best in the world, rather I am trying to see how far it is possible to go and in particular how far later on in life. My goal is to make it on the PGA Tour, not to be the best of all time. Top 250 in the world will suffice ;)

Hello Steve,

Thank you for finding the site. I like the Greg Norman quotes and facts, always good to remember what he did in such little time.

It is unfortunate that there are not 10,000 people putting in 10,000 hours, that would be eye opening. Instead, there is one and the results will just reflect that. But, one is better than none and at least we will be able to see what is possible on a small scale..

Thanks again and have a great week,

Dan

Tony,

Great point. To be fair, I still played well when I returned, but it took a few days to really remember what I had been working on just before leaving. I put in so much time that taking a week off for me is perhaps similar to someone who plays twice a month taking a season off..

Keep at it and progress will come,

Dan

hopefully the 6 years becomes life changing rather then data changing :)

but agree with you Charlie........not enough data to prove anything except Dan is brave and willing to follow his heart !

maybe that is Dan's new definition of success ?
