Well, my challenge was not in your league. But I did interview a bunch of experts during the book, so there might be something there for you! And it might also make you laugh a bit – it’s pretty flippant, but I guess you are going to have to retain your sense of humour on those bad days! Like I’ve just had to do myself – I’ve been scoring around 78-80 recently (admittedly on an easy par-70 home course), then inexplicably collapsed to an 87. Maddening, eh?

Hi WIlliam,

The driver is amazing at getting scores down! I’m still in the infant period of swinging it, but can see how much easier the game is when you can get the ball down there a bit farther. All of those holes that were 3-hybrid off the tee and then 3-hybrid from the fairway are now driver then 6-iron. It’s definitely easier to hit a green with a wedge or mid-iron than a fairway wood or hybrid. Looking forward to the days of a bit more understanding of the driver swing and some warm weather

^Yea I’ve been around… Yea it is an amazingly simple concept but I think it illustrates how good ‘good’ golfers really are.

Bogies are so easy to get and birdies so difficult. Curious, did getting your driver do what you expected in the way of lowering your scores?

That’s good to know, all I need to do right now is become more likely to get a birdie than bogey on each hole. Golf is such a simple game, eh?

Books! There are so many good ones out there it’s kind of hard to know where to start. Instead of writing this as a blog response, I think I will write a blog about books in the coming week. I, too, am a fan of the inspirational bios from all fields

You Bogey 42% of the holes you play.
You Birdie 3% of the holes you play.

To be a hair better than scratch every time you step up on the tee box, you need to be more likely to make birdie than bogey. To be scratch you need to be just as likely to make birdie as you are bogey.

That’s bananas!
