great write up, if you had an android phone you can use and see gamegolf and use NFC to tag them.

as gamegolf suggests make the tag the pre shot routine, I’ve had success even using it without the tags and manually remembering to add the club ! so tagging should be a piece of cake.

Hi, what if I already use GolfShot GPS for distances on my phone? It sounds like the Arccos app doesn’t have nearly the same GPS functionality. Will the Arccos app work in the background or would I have to either (1) give up the GolfShot app I already paid for or (2) try to run both and remember to look up the yardage using the GolfShot app and then switch to the Arccos app before each shot? Thanks.

Phone use rules – I remember the use of an iPhone as it had a compass and spirit level and a weather app etc was originally a banned DMD, so I bought a laser, but it looks like from this page that you can now use a phone providing there is a local rule allowing the use of distance measuring devices even if it has those functions

perhaps in a tournament though this overrides the local use but that would make all DMD’s illegal.

I have a laser but I quite like to quickly tap my shots taken and gir’s etc into my iphone app as I go or when I have a moment

No doubt there will be a few comments on this that will confirm or deny the use of a phone based on individual peoples perception of what they’ve heard or read

But the main thing is keep up the great progress Dan

What about android phones. Arcos work with those? I already have too much tech but this was very interesting. Ps, if you dont want all of this but just a good distance to pin. Of course there are apps that can kill your phone or try the garmin watches. I have the s2 and absolutely love it. Checked with caddys when i was at Old Palm, and their handhelds were exact to 1 yard difference

Nice Dan, I’ve been fortunate to use both. I bought the Arccos for its Real Time functionality but after 3 rounds returned it and am back using the Game Golf.

My phone could not handle the batter drainage and I really could feel the weight difference on each club. Waiting for Game Golf to release a real time solution but cannot justify $400! No way.

Game Golf released a Free App this week that pretty much does everything, real time and rangefinder plus all the other feature (not sure their business model around this but as a consumer, I’m certainly not complaing) so I’m test that out tomorrow, will report back
