Hello Tony,

Linear or non-linear, the most important aspect of putting is confidence. So, regardless of which way you approach the putt, just make sure you are certain that it is the best way for you. If you start putting with a line in a linear way and it does not feel right, maybe it's time to switch back to the non-linear style.. If worse comes to worse, ask a coach :)
Also, robotic is fine if the ball hits the cup!

I wish I had someone figuring out if I was a linear or non linear putter. I think instinctively I am a non-linear, but I am working to become a linear one because I just don't have the same level of confidence as you in my putting (because I haven't put in the hours you have). So, now what I do is look at the putt from behind, line up the line on the ball to where I want the ball to go, then line up the line on my putter (I have a Ping Karsten Anser putter) with the line on my ball, and then align my feet along the line on the putter. It's worked in that I make more putts now, but it feels very robotic ... a price I am seemingly willing to pay.
