Finding the balance in life without injury is hard to find to play top level golf, we all have bumps in the road and surely good sleep and nutrition is a big part of keeping in top shape to play good golf. But without adversity we could not become strong. I have had about 75 broken bones in my life and multiple surgeries, and had some hard knocks but still golf is the key to my rehabs, despite the breaks am determined to reach scratch this year, but need to avoid the injury bug, that often strikes when least expected. Was close to scratch a couple years ago in Arizona but broke my toe? Many of the best players in the world have fallen to injury and some fight back and get right back in the race, and some seem lucky to avoid injury but golf is much like life and most have hard knocks, but a good nights sleep always helps, yesterday it was hike in the mountains with my yellow lab that made sleep easy, deep sleep often comes from a busy day of physical activity, 18 holes of golf and walking burns about 2000 calories and try it twice burns 4000 , a good way to get lean and mean and strong. Look forward to playing Riverside sometime this spring but next trip is to Eagle Crest in Redmond 3 nice courses and weather is kicking in May. Your young Dan a few minor injuries will not detour you from getting back on the horse and riding on to your goal, a good mix of adversity will just make you mentally stronger to climb the mountain. Success is a journey not a destination. Vince

There are mattress-3-inch-foam-pad-toppings being sold on eBay for 70 to 80 dollars, which they claimed were developed during the space program, and which claims to improve athletic fittness: "Significantly decrease neck and back pain. Increase athletic energy. Decrease the average time it takes to fall asleep, and keep you asleep. Put you into a more healing sleep than previously possible" according to the claims of the seller. Have not tried it personally. I am curious on whether it works for golfers. If anyone here has used it, please post on whether it helps. This type of foam was developed during the space program. Another seller claims that five thousand foam mattresses only have their top few inches made of this space age foam, which the rest of the foam is just ordinary foam.

Hi Dan, will drop you a line off site when I get the chance. I'm also struggling a tad with some minor aches and pains right now. Hope we both mend soon.

Pressure in tournaments - totally self induced of course. I've just started playing in competitions but my first was playing for my club in a pairs matchplay tournament, leading the team out so both teams were gathered round the first tee. Just wanted to not top the ball if I'm honest but had a nice easy regulation par before moving out on to the relative quiet of the course.

Compared to the zero pressure of a practice round I loved it. I think the thing to do is feed off it and enjoy it. The more pressure the better. Good luck for the coming season :)
