Hi,Dan
It is really encouraging to read about your daily progress.
I'm from China and I've read the book Outliers and articles about the 10,000 hours theory.
I'm thinking about translating your daily blog into Chinese so my friends and parents could read it. They don't know English but are really interested in it.
So if it is OK to translate your blog into Chinese? I'll put your permission and the link to the original blog on my blog.
By the way, good tournament played!

Timble,

Here in the states every round can count towards your handicap. I'm not sure how I feel about it as I think tournament rounds should be the one's that establish handicap, but it is what it is so I have gotten down to 8.7 though playing rounds on different courses. My goal now is to get to single digits with tournament round play.

Cheers,

Dan

Hi Dan.

Thx. 8.7 is already a low handicap for plenty of golfers. In EGA ratings, if I'm not mistaking, this is a 10 something (around 2 point difference at this level of hcp), which is not that common.
Yesterday I played 76 on a beautiful course I was playing only for the second time (6772 yards from the back tees). The feeling is that I played horribly, with no feeling at all with my putter, driver, and hybrid off the deck, but at the end the score is here. Regarding my goal, that was to play safe to assure par on every all, it's a miss. But still I only shoot 4 over. Strange sensation...
Another question: you played only one tournament, shoot 86, and now you have 8.7 handicap. Meaning that you had played before other competition rounds to lower your handicap that starts at 36, right? Or did I miss something?

Have a nice day.

I'm looking at business/finance, with the ultimate numerical goals of (1) a certain amount of money made through investing, and (2) a certain amount of money that other people have entrusted to me to invest on their behalf. As they say, money talks. Going to try to follow the Warren Buffet model on how to get there!

Hello Timble,

Thank you. my handicap now is 8.7, that's after two years of practice, although I think if your main goal is just to get a low handicap you could push it farther than me by practicing all of the clubs at once. I started from the hole and only putted for the first 5 months. In the long run I think that I have built some good skills for the future, but if you just want a low handicap playing is the best way to learn how to score.

Cheers,

Dan
