There is an annual urban golf competition where i live in France. It started off with just a small group of players from the local club but really gets quite a lot of interest from all over the place now. anything to encourage youngster to take up the game!

Urban golf sounds like fun! There is something similar every year where I live. Rather than tennis balls, we use foam, limited distance balls. The holes are in things like fountains, car windows and rubbish baskets. it gets people playing who would never normally play, which much me good for the sport.

Hey Dan,

Such a shame about the injury, but I guess it does go with the territory! I just look forward to you getting healthy again and using the time off to improve!

Just as an aside, I remember hearing Tony Robbins speak once about a guy who he knew, who had been a prison of war in a Vietnamese prison camp for 7 years. As a way of killing time and staying sane, he would mentally play a round of golf on his home course. Every single day, he would take 3-4 hours going STEP BY STEP, swing by swing through the course. Finally, the war ended and he was released. When he got back to the US and felt fit enough again, he went out to that same golf course. He was incredulous to find that - while going into the war he had been a mid-90s golfer on a good day, he managed to shoot mid-70s! Just from visualising the perfect strokes, his muscles and body and neurons came to see it as real.

It is pretty much a given that the mind has a difficult (some say impossible) time distinguishing between what is VIVIDLY imagined and what is real. Maybe the winter will give you time to practice some of this incredible visualisation, you never know! Maybe it will shave a stroke or two off the game once you get back into the "swing of things" ;).

All the best to you, my friend.

While you're in the general vicinity, I mentioned proper movement control specialists in your last blog:

http://www.theperformancematrix.com/about_us/grete_mellingen_homstol

Is someone I rate very higly: See the team and then look at their published reasearch.

I think Finland will also have a lot of quality people you could talk to about your back.

Good luck chap.

(I have no connection to the above)

If you get a chance, take the ferry to Tallinn, Estonia, it's about a three hour ride and the Old Town is beautiful (also, it's way cheaper than Finland, and frankly the city is more aesthetically pleasing). Good luck!
