Curious how you knew Dan played in 3 hours each day. Presumably he was playing with one or more other competitors so everyone must have been flying around the course.

Hi Dan, a bit of constructive advice: you are playing too fast. All 3 of your comp rounds at Riverside took 3 hours...slow it down a little man, that's an important event and you need to be precise and methodical, especially over putts. Rushing around in 3 hours is not going to do you any good at all.
On top of that, I think you need an hour or so warm up on the range/practice green before each round. How come you did not do that?

That's a great question.

In a way the two balance each other. When I'm out on the course I am the student giving my all to learning something new and foreign and then when I am home with the kids I get to be the teacher. I learn equally from both situations and can apply aspects of watching them learn to my game as well as take from my own struggles to help them pick up something better.

I think that it is important to have balance in one's life. The kids and Mary allow for me to escape myself at the end of the day which gives my brain some time to process what I did at the course. On a day to day basis both of them fulfill me.

Thanks Melissa,
Dan

Click on the stopwatch and read July 12-14: 87-98-87 over a three day tournament.

A 5.5 handicapper has a one in a million chance of shooting that poorly 3 days in a row. The way he shot in that tournament is indicative of about a 18-20 handicapper.

His other scores that he posted about in July are in the 79-82 range. These are excellent scores!! Better than most amateur golfers. These scores put him in the 8-10 HCP range. Really good! Great progress for any golfer, BUT NOT indicative of a 5.5 handicapper. A 5.5 handicapper shoots 77 about 25% of the time and the rest are higher 70's with a scattered round in the low 80's. Dan is consistently in the low 80's which again is AWESOME! But not indicative of a 5.5 HCP.

Tournament performance is the most accurate representation of a player's handicap. Not a scramble, best ball, etc that he posts often, but a real tournament. And in that regard Dan has played to a 18+ HCP.

Also a 5.5 HCP doesn't hit only 3 fairways through 54 holes of golf. That is unbelievable. I am just urging Dan to forget about his TrackMan, over-analysis, chiropractor, photoshoots, etc and just play the game. Practice makes perfect, not spreadsheet numbers on a TrackMan and laptop. Dan- sell the TrackMan and there you go, 200+ rounds of golf paid for! :) There is no other way.
