In the hands of others.

My courtesy membership at CECC ended on June 1 this year.  Since then I have been practicing and playing all around town while waiting for a vote that is scheduled to happen tomorrow on whether or not they will extend the membership for the next year.  It’s a weird feeling to have your future in the hands of a committee, but at this point it is out of my control and whatever happens happens.

In preparation, I wrote a letter about everything that I can provide for them and all of the press that I have brought to the club over the past 12 months as well as the photographs I have shot for their site and other ways that I have helped out in the past.  I hope that the letter is ample reason for them to consider extending the membership and I was wanting to come to the meeting to express my gratitude in person, but it is a closed gathering and all I can do at this point is hold tight and wait for a call or email some time tomorrow afternoon.  I very much appreciate everything that CECC has already done.

Randomly, tomorrow is my birthday.  Last year on that day Nike called to say they had bought Rory McIlroy and in turn were pulling out of a deal that The Dan Plan and Nike had agreed upon (albeit not in writing yet, the contract was supposed to be signed in early July).  Perhaps this year there will be better golfing news and history will not be repeating itself, but regardless of the decision The Plan will go on and milestones will be hit, goals accomplished.

That’s all about that for now.  I just wanted to share what was going on.  Hopefully starting soon I will be back out at CECC grinding away at the short game facility and honing those wedges as well as taking advantage of that great grass driving range.  Fingers crossed for a positive result.

In other news, I finally put up a club by club stat sheet on the site with all of my new sticks accounted for.  Here is a link the the pdf report:  http://thedanplan.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Dan-Plan-2013-06-21-Multi-Group-Report.pdf

I think that the numbers are fascinating, especially when you compare them to one of the reports where I was hitting my old sticks.  Lots of good stats there and it’s interesting to see how my swing speeds and distances are starting to shape up.  I’m not going to analyze the numbers right now, but wanted to at least point them out for those interested.
