past works

The latest of perhaps twenty dental ops I built over the past six months

Here is an example of the kind of work I have recently found myself doing.  I have been working for, and will still up until three days before The Dan Plan kicks off, a dental equipment company in Newberg Oregon.  Looking back, I started a conversation with Mark (the full time photographer out there) back before I even moved to Portland.  I responded to an add on Craig’s List looking for a photographer and have been working on and off with them since August 2006.

More recently, I have been doing this full time (four days a week, it’s full time enough..) since July of 2009, which all in all makes it about 8 months.  I Was covering for Mark, who was out on medical leave, and then when he came back the work load was easily enough for the two of us, so I continued on.  It is a good company with some great people working for them and I think if the circumstances were different I could have been happy working there full time, but..  I have found my purpose in The Dan Plan and do not have any regrets about leaving to pursue this opportunity.

For the next 4 weeks this will continue to be my professional life.  Building sets to appear like a working dental office, shooting them and then moving on to the next room.  Lately there have been a few interruptions in our work flow so are a little behind, but we will try and get as many images as possible finished before I leave.  I must admit I feel bad for leaving Mark on his lonesome out there (He’s still not 100 percent and there is a lot of lifting in set building) but at this point I have already pushed The Plan back by three months, so it’s time to start!
