Almost one for the record books

A short little blurb about yesterday. At the end of the day I went out and played the front 9 at Riverside and came dangerously close to landing my first hole-in-one:

I can’t help but think that if the top ring (which my ball broke) on this 185 yard hole hadn’t been in there this shot might have wormed its way into the cup. But, you never know in golf and it just means I have to try a little harder moving forward.

It was a pretty cool way to close out the day yesterday. And, for the record, I did make the birdie.

Over and out, back to practice.

Shortest distance is a straight line. Consistency is also the name of the game. Remember reading somewhere that some golfers can shot par just using three clubs: five iron, wedge, and a putter, at least just on average size courses by playing consistent straight-line golf.

Add in a four or five wood, and a sand wedge, most players with any experience should be capable of doing so, unless they are really short (from poor technique usually, lack of even average strength, just a young kid, or the course is tricked up to prevent “laying up” style of playing.)

Another game is to see whether a player can play to par from 150 yards in from the fairway, or from 170 yards in from the fairway, that is whether only three or less strokes are needed from 150 to 170 yards in.
