Back to work after a family visit

It’s good to be back at work, even if today was a low-morale day..

My mother was in town for the weekend so I got to relax and go on a couple hikes, get my mind away from putting for two days.  I dropped her off at the airport this morn and stopped at Colewood Golf Course instead of going all the way to Heron Lakes and I’m glad I did.  Colewood’s greens are much different than anything I’ve played on before and I think I should go back at least once every couple weeks to give them a roll.  What I found was that the type of grass they have mixed with the layout of the putting green made for a ton of slope.  It took most of my four hours out there to adjust to that and had me wondering how tour players would get used to a new green..

For some unknown reason, my morale was at an all-time low today.  Not sure what was going on, but it was a big “beat up Dan” day out there for me.  Was also feeling a bit tired and worn out, just a down day all-in-all!  But, I got in the work that I was hoping to get in, so now that I’m home and relaxing I feel like today was a good day.  Going to go to sleep with that thought running through my head and hit the ground running for a great Tuesday!

I’m still having quite a bit of fun with the new pitching wedge, AND….  Christopher pointed out that my two new irons are not an 8 and 9, but rather an 8 and 6 iron…  guess I saw it upside down!  Not sure when I’ll get to break those in, but it’s going to be fun!

On a side note, I’ve been working on my lag putting for the last few practice sessions.  Specifically, lag putting from about 40 feet out.  My goal is to get about 90% of my lags to within a 3-foot circle of the hole.  Currently, I’m just over 40%, so I have a lot of work to do, but every time I hit 100 of them I get a few percent better.  Once I can really control that type of distance, my 20′ and 30′ lags will be that much easier, too.

Ok, time to get in a good dinner and plan out tomorrow.  It’s going to be a great day!
