Back to work after a couple days in Eugene
Had a good weekend break down in Eugene watching my sister (who has always inspired me) run the Eugene marathon in 3:01 and am back with a fury of purpose. It was inspiring to see my sister and her friend run the marathon and I think I will be able to ride that inspiration for the next couple of weeks at least.
Today, I woke up early (without an alarm set) and made it out to Heron Lakes by 7:15. It was a good news/bad news kind of start, though. Bad news: a storm came through and completely soaked me and then the gusts of 40mph winds came, freezing my fingers. Good news: I had one of the best morning sessions yet and pushed it for five hours instead of my usual 4 without really noticing. I’m not sure if this was due to seeing the marathoners or to the fact that I got 8.5 hours sleep and ate well yesterday. Probably a mix of both.
Even though my energy was up and I had a good practice, my percentage and accuracy went down a bit today. Guess it’s important to look at these numbers on a larger scale and not day-to-day, but so far my numbers had gone up every day. I think I’m nearing my first plateau, at least when putting within five feet of the hole, but if I can maintain the level of accuracy I have reached, I think it will be time to push the distance out a bit. It has been a little over two weeks of putting from within five feet. If I could continue to improve and move out from the hole every three to four weeks, I should be chipping in no time..
