Final pre-meetings

Christopher Smith’s swing room

Was a good day for meeting up with people.
Went over to the Kor facility and saw Christopher (swing coach) and Donn (potential strength trainer). It had been a little while since I had visited them and was good to get a few more details ironed out. We still have not gotten clubs or decided exactly how or where to start, but we did plan to meet one more time for a putter fitting and to pick out some public courses to train at.
It was a much less formal meeting, kind of a round robin of sorts with a few people poking their heads in to talk with Christopher while we chatted. One was a man from Nike, who seemed  interested in the plan, saying that at the least we need to start a dialogue and perhaps meet up with the marketing department in the next few weeks. Would be pretty amazing to get a sponsorship by a company like them, especially seeing as at this point I have yet to play the game.. That said, I think they can see the potential of this project.
After viewing the talk CS and I had with the Nike man, I realized that I seriously need help with my communication skills. Kind of all over the place when someone asks a question about the plan. Also, need to listen more.. Lots to learn.
I’ve included a pic of CS’s swing room. This is where we will be meeting for one-on-ones when we are not out on a course somewhere.

Afterwords, I thought a lot about those meetings and I feel like I’ve somehow forgotten how important it is to listen to people. It seems that the older I get the more I assume that I know what is best and what people are trying to convey, but I think we should never feel like we have it all figured out. Hopefully The Plan will force me to slow down in many aspects. I am, after all, back in training “school” and it is in a field that I do not know anything about.

So.. shut up and listen, Dan. It will help you learn.
