January..

Sunny, yet frozen

It might LOOK sunny and warm out, but don’t be fooled, this lake’s covered in ice..

It’s great to be out practicing in a new year, I think that 2011 will be a huge year for The Dan Plan and am excited to kick it off officially today, January 2.  I took a few days off after my Atlanta trip to go to the coast for New Years with Marijke, and to get over a cold, but headed out for a few hours today to get my golfing feet back.  I’m glad I started off with a shorter practice, too, because it took about two hours just to get my head back into the game and remember where I left off.  Happy to say that my shots did not suffer much over the past ten days off and if anything my pitching is better than the last day I practiced.  I also played nine holes of chip n putt and scored 22 strokes, which was my goal for the day.

Not everything went perfectly, though.  I couldn’t seem to lag putt to save my life.  Not sure if it was just me or the frozen balls/ground.  I’ve never played in icy conditions like today, so I will just blame this one on frozen ground and pick up with some lag practice in the AM.

Being a sunny day and January 2, I figured there would be a lot of New Years Resolutionists (new word?) out practicing, but I pretty much had the place to myself, so I guess there aren’t that many people out there aiming to get great at golf this year, at least not in Portland that is..

Not much else to note, just that I’m excited about the year to come and am glad to start work officially tomorrow morning!
