Things change.

Sometimes fast, at times slow, but life is always in a state of flux.  Perceptions change as well.  For example, one month ago, March 4, 2011, was the first time I played 9 holes from 75 and 100 yards.  I shot 8 over for the 27 holes (also including 9  holes from 50 yards) and was on top of the world with the score.  The week after that, I was regularly shooting 12-15 over for 27 and wasn’t too bothered by that, it was so new!

Today, I played 54 holes and shot 7 over on both the first and second set of 27.  It was an off day and I felt like I just couldn’t get my swing or putts down.  I didn’t exactly beat myself up over the score, but I was disappointed in my performance.  Then I looked back through my notebook and realized that in the four weeks since I first hit a full swing, my score had dropped an average of 6 strokes.  Today was an off day, for sure, but what’s interesting is how just four weeks ago it would have been my best performance yet.  Things change quickly.  Let’s just hope they keep changing for the better. :)

It was undeniably wet out today.  From the time I got out to Heron until after lunch, there were only two other golfers to be seen anywhere on the course.  But, it honestly wasn’t that bad out.  Rain gear was a must, but it was warm enough that your hands didn’t freeze between holes and the course was dry enough to play.  The rains also washed off most of the sand on the greens, which is a plus.

Here is some photographic evidence of the heavy clouds:
